Moni Lazariston Festival, in cooperation with Inter Show Productions and Thessaloniki's Concert Hall create a new institution in the city, the first International Mime Festival, a short form of special performing arts festival.

Some of the most impressive and completely original performances abroad, where words replaced by expression, will be presented in Megaron stages.

Body, music, effects, and all the modern techniques of physical theater and circus are combined to produce new forms of theatrical expression. Here, the words are aside and give their position to a different kind of "speech", which is expected to fascinate and excite the audience of Thessaloniki...

For the first event were selected four excellent performances from Europe, but also from distant Japan, which will carve a unique journey in human expression and give an overall great experience to those who attend!

Butoh is a movement that was born in Japan in the 60's. It is a form of dance theater with grotesque elements, where body-mind "empties" and is ready to experience, sometimes unusual, evidence of its existence.

Tadashi Endo, Japanese origin (1947), student of the great butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno, found his own way of dance which he calls “Butoh - MA”. MA is a very important word in zen buddhism, which has two meanings: the “emptiness” and “the space between the things”.

With his choreographies, he embodies the wisdom of the East and West dance and theatrical traditions. The expressive movements manage to express the field of tension between the yin and yang, male and female and their eternal change.

Tadashi Endo is the absolute lord and master of BUTOH MA.

“IKIRU. Hommage to Pina Bausch”

The performance accompanying music tracks with Maria Callas, the Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen, Bach and Purcell, the famous Argentine singer of tango Alberto Castillo, the Heitor Villa-Lobos and the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto."IKIRU", which in Portuguese means "life," is a hommage to the great German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch, who Tadashi Endo met through their mutual friendship with the German bassist Peter Kowald and the most important butoh dancer, Japanese, Kazuo Ohno. They all had the same desire: to bear with their art, the love and humanity into this world.

Tadashi Endo says: “Pina Bausch gave dance another spirit and another dimension. She will live forever through her dance and personal style of expressive dance-theater. Thank you Pina”.
