Strange Screen

An open–air audiovisual festival organized for the first time in Greece.

Its aim was two fold: firstly, to highlight works and ideas that diverge from the conventional forms of cinematography, television and the other mainstream forms of visual entertainment and secondly, to find its own audience through alternative methods and media of expression.

In “Strange Screen” took part 74 cinematographers from Greece and abroad. There were projected 90 films: 41 short films, 14 documentaries, 9 awarded films of Media Terra festival and 26 of “360” group. Some also significant moments were the performances of the British group OMSK and of two Greek groups “Cine Poeme” and “Civil Servants’ Penthouse”.

Although an experiment “Strange Screen” had a tremendous appeal to the city’s young people, highlighting the need for its repetition and establishment as a key part of future festivals.
