This open-air Audiovisual Festival was held for the second time at the new part of Moni Lazariston and its program had Competition part with new artists’ experimental films and documentaries, Open Screen, Tributes to well known cinematographers, Special Screenings and parallel events such as photo gallery and music events.
The experiment that came out from the Audiovisual School of Stavroupoli and the Festival of Moni Lazarsiton in 2002 showed that the idea of an audiovisual festival with experimental films and documentaries seemed neither out of place nor out of time.
The audiovisual – artistic expression, the image creation with contemporary mediums and methods, the free use of the magic, poetic and illogical capacities of the cinematographic image, the window to every day life’s poetry (documentary) and the figural pursuits are actual demands and interest many people.
It seems that after the constant oppression of dominant TV. and a tired narrative cinema, the audience seems ready to accept the “other” image that is proposed by creators ready to make it.
“Strange Screen” is also ready to accept any kind of audiovisual “eccentricities” expressed with dare, seriousness, humor and imagination.
