5th of June
The program opened with Huun Huur Tu, from far away Touva. The audience had the opportunity to attend a stupendous saman ritual, full of mystical voices, strange vocals and traditional costumes that transported them to an original but to us alien, eastern civilization.
13th of June
David Byrne’s concert was the major highlight of the international music program. One of the best known rock stars, from Talking Heads era to his solo career, Byrne has proved himself as a live wire, multidimensional creator of world music, not only through his exceptional production, but also through his own work and partnerships with other artists.
15th of June
Gotan Project, with their slogan “La revancha del tango” – the Tango’s return was probably the surprise hit of the summer. Their music, a clever combination of electronic beat and acoustic instruments, based on tango, proved that Argentinean music has the potential to excite its audience to a musically sensual frenzy.
2nd of July
Thousands of people from all over North Greece enjoyed one of the world’s most famous guitarists, Joe Satriani, at his first ever performance in the country. With his unique style of playing, Satriani proved that he could easily be considered as one of the most distinguished composers of 20th century.
